In the beginning...

Back in September 2014, Jax Gibbins started on a musical journey that she never expected, when she took on her first ever 'Choir Musical Directors' job, working for 'The Rhythm of Life Choir', Exeter. Things would never be the same again!...

The back story...

Jax's has been working in the music industry for over 20 years, performing in bands, Stage Musical Productions, Compositional work, a Music Teacher for Stagecoach - Performing Arts, as well as being a singer/songwriter herself, with two albums under her belt! Her deep love of harmonies and arranging had always been there, but upon taking this first step into the world of 'choirs', the potential for her creativeness, was fully realised... 

Jax's love of 'Funk', 'Rock', 'Pop', and 'Gospel' are demonstrated in the carefully selected songs taught to the choir. Her idea was to push the boundaries of the 'traditional' choir, and create something energetic, fun and dynamic! Her classical training, also added to the mix, a combination of 3 part, up to 6 part harmonies in some pieces, creating choral arrangements of some unlikely song choices, such as 'Hysteria' - by Muse, and 'Chandelier' - by Sia. The idea was to make the choir accessible to anyone 18+ - 70, with a broad setlist that covers all genres and styles to suit choir members and audiences tastes, but with a 'spark' of something a little different...

A new breed of choir...

So after several years of enjoyment working with 'The Rhythm of Life Choir' (now DyNaMix - Exeter), which started with 15/20 members, and is now 50 members strong, Jax decided to start her very own choir, a little closer to home. So on September the 13th 2016, the first ever 'DyNaMix' Choir was born...!

The choir have performed at Exeter City Football Stadium, Festivals, Barnstaple Christmas Lights, recorded a charity single for Alzheimers Society, sung at choir members weddings, AND took to the 'cat walk' singing and modelling,....Oh yeah!! ;) They are also an award winning choir, and won the ‘sing for your city’ competition 2016. As well as creating their first ever music video, raising awareness of the NHS, doing their own arrangement of 'Fix you' by Coldplay. 

With 2 choirs now in action, DyNaMix Choirs go from strength to strength, entertaining audiences far and wide and raising significant amounts of money for a variety of charities.

The root of DyNamix Choirs ethos, and the running theme throughout all of Jax’s choirs, is they are super fun, challenging, but also accessible to anyone on any level, so no pressure in the singing department! And a fantastic way to meet people, de-stress and come away feeling part of something rather special. And with the love and support of its members and Jax's ongoing energy and enthusiasm, we hope to see 'DyNaMix' Choirs continue well into the future... So come and join us today!
